Rev. Michael Owings

Biography

I was born January 1, 1971, in Spartanburg, SC. I grew up in Woodruff, SC where I attended Bellview Baptist Church. In this church I came to accept Jesus as my Savior and Lord at 10 years old. After a bumpy adolescence, I committed my life once again to being a fully devoted follower of Christ. While finishing High School I experienced leading my first ministry as I became a part of singing group that traveled locally and led worship services. I then went to North Greenville College where I was a apart of another group called Joyful Sound and it was there I began to feel the call to ministry. Over the next several years I began to try and define what that call meant and accepted my first ministry position as youth leader at New Hope Baptist church in Pelzer, SC. A few years later I met Anne and we soon got engaged and then married. We also moved to NC, where she had a new job, and I soon began school at Southeastern Seminary in Wake Forest. While in NC we became members of what would become the Summit Church and while there I was led to my first Pastorate at Sorrels Grove Baptist Church near RDU airport. I was then led to Switzer Baptist Church in Spartanburg, SC where we stayed for four years before coming back to the Triangle to be the Pastor of Bells Baptist Church since 2013. God has been good to us all the way and we invite you all to come and see how God can move in your life also.
